Rafting Trip and Jeep Ride Page Two

They were right it is snow !!!!

After getting wet on the rafting trip we had a chance to dry off, change clothes and have some good snacks before we started on the jeep ride into the La Plata Canyon. We were told that there might be some snow there.

This is a pretty sight
The snow is about seven feet thick here
A better view of the deep snow
The platform is 8 feet above the ground
A beautiful distant view

This was around the curve

Rafting Trip And Jeep Ride

Our Rafting Gang
Among the benefits the RV Park gave their workampers was a pair of tickets for a water rafting trip on the Animas River and a Jeep ride to the La Plata Canyon. The rafting trip began about 9:00 am and we had a break for lunch which was provided by the rafting company. Even though the trip was at the end of May, the water was still COLD.

Ouray Colorado

Aerial View Of Ouray
Ouray, "The Switzerland of America" was founded in 1875 as a mining town for Gold and Silver. At one time there were more horses and mules than people in the town. The entire town is registered as a National Historic District. The buildings are quaint and can only be preserved not updated.
