Home Again

The drive from Texas was nice, the weather was great and the roads were nice and smooth. We're back at our favorite RV Park in Montgomery, the Capital City RV Park. It's nice and quiet and the owner Mick is great.
I have a son-in-law who is a BIG John Wayne fan and I gave him a Christmas present no one else has. I gave him some "Hallowed Ground". The ground came from the Alamo Movie Studio in Bracketville Texas. That's where John Wayne built the studio where he filmed "The Alamo".
We also gave him a one of a kind of portrait of John Wayne too. He was very excited about the gifts.
We'll be here through the Holiday Season and then head back to Texas Hill Country and begin to prepare for our spring trip to Durango, CO. We're real excited about going there since we've never been before. Also I have a niece that has a summer home close to Durango so we'll be able to spend some time with her.

Going Home Again

Since we didn't do too much of interest since the last journal I didn't want to bore everyone with nothing. Now we're going back to Montgmery AL to spend the Holiday season with the family. We'll be back in the Hill Country after the Christmas Holiday period is over.

Landscape Project

Jerry and I have been working hard to relandscape the park with various types of cactus. Some of them were given to us and some we went out along the country roads and dug up. The park really looks different now and when the cactus blooms it'll be really pretty.

The park owner and manager were very happy with the results and especially since the cactus didn't cost them anything, they were either donated or dug up by us.

Texas Sunsets and Sunrises

Hill Country Sunset

It seems that the sunsets and sunrises here in Texas are more beautiful than those we see back in Alabama. It may be the elevation of the Hill Country but there is a very marked difference.

Sight Seeing Again

We've been working hard for the past couple of weeks so we thought it was about time to do some sight seeing and have a little fun.

We've decided to take a tour of the Hill Country and see what we can find of interest.

New Job Offer

Jerry and I were relaxing in the pool when our friend Carma came by and asked what we had planned for next summer. Since we're retired we really didn't have any firm plans for next summer. She said she'd be back in a few minutes.

About 30 minutes later she came back and said we could go with them to Durango, Colorado and workamp if we wanted to. We said YES we'd love to go there.

We'll be leaving Texas about the first of April 2005 and will be in Durango till sometime around the first of October. We're really excited about the opportunity to go there and workamp.

Back in Fredericksburg

We're now back at Oakwood RV Park and ready to resume our workamping duties. I'll be driving a golf cart to pick up trash in the morning and escorting guests to their sites. I'm glad I went to school to learn how to do this. Jerry will continue to water the flowers and maybe plant some more cactus.

We rested up a day or two from our long trip and then drove to Kerrville to see what there was in that town.

These murals are on the walls around a Hardware Store in Kerrville. The store owner is trying to find an artist to touch up them.
