The Beautiful Texas Hill Country

Texas Bluebonnets

It's hard to describe how beautiful the Texas Hill Country is, the rolling hills are covered with cedar trees and are a dark green. During the spring the Texas Bluebonnets are all over the hills and roadside. The highway department doesn't mow the roadsides until the Bluebonnets have stopped blooming. We can thank Lady Bird Johnson for this.

We have been to a lot of different states in our travels but I don't believe I've been to a state that has prettier sunrises and sunsets than Texas.

A View Of Our Backyard

One Of Our Guests Feeding The Goats

In our backyard we have a large herd of goats and a couple of donkeys. The donkeys are there to provide security for the goats to ensure they are not killed by a coyote or mountain lion. One of the goats gave birth to triplets and another gave birth to twins. They are real friendly and if you approach them with some old bread they will come to the fence and take it out of your hands.

A Herd Of Fallow Deer

We were going to Hondo to make a run to our favorite store, "Wally World" to stock up on our food supplies. Driving to Hondo you go through some beautiful Hill Country ranch country and you can never tell what sort of animal you might see.

On our way into Hondo we pass by a rather large pecan orchard and in the field we saw a herd of unusual deer. There were some large white bucks and they were not albino either. We found out later they are called Fallow Deer and the full grown males are white and also have an unusual type of antlers.

After we left the ranch we stopped again because we saw something that you rarely ever see, "A Man Riding A Deer". Here is a picture of him riding the deer.

Okay, so I didn't say John Deere.

Our Humming Bird Friends

We have four window mounted Humming Bird feeders and we really enjoy watching them feed outside our windows.

At times we've had from ten to fifteen birds at a time feeding. It's a lot of fun to sit and watch them.

A New Baby

Our friends in our physical fitness program have a ranch where they raise miniature horses. Today they told us they had a new foal and invited us down to see it. This is something that you don't see every day and I'm afraid I might have gone a little overboard taking pictures. This journal will take several pages to show all the pictures, please bear with me.
