Tombstone Arizona

For our trip to Tombstone we decided to take a short cut which goes over the back roads. The trip was very interesting and the country side was awesome.

Cochise Strong Hold

We're taking a short drive into the mountains to see Cochise Strong Hold. He and his men would watch the Army Fort in the distance and wait till they got closer and then would attack them. After a short battle he and his men would return to the Strong Hold. For a while the Soldiers would follow the Indians, but the General finally realized that the Soldiers that went into the mountains never came back.

Ft Wilcox Arizona

The drive here was good, the road and weather was great. The park is not what I would call a "destination" park but it's a nice place to spend a week or so. The sites are long and level and the park is quiet. It's about three miles out of town so we don't get a lot of road noise.

Wilcox Arizona is the home town of the Cowboy movie star, Rex Allen. We're going to see his museum and the place where he and his horse Ko ko are buried.

Tomorrow we're going to Cochise Stronghold.

"On The RoadAgain"

After spending about a week in Andrews and sight seeing in Carlsbad New Mexico we got back on the road heading to Arizona. We drove to Anthony Texas which is just outside El Paso and stopped at Flying J to refuel and have supper.Since it was late and we were tired we decided to spend the night there.

Tomorrow we're heading to Wilcox Arizona to begin sight seeing of Tombstone, Bisbee and other good places. We have reservations at Ft Wilcox RV Park and the weekly rate for a 50 amp site is $64.13. I told Lee he would save money being a member of Passport America and I was right.

Carlsbad Caverns

We took a short drive to Carlsbad New Mexico to tour the Carlsbad Caverns. Neither of us had ever been there so we didn't really know what to expect. It was well worth the drive and this is a place everyone should try to see.

Leaving for Colorado

After several months of hard workamping we're now getting ready to head to Durango Colorado and workamp there for the summer.


Our friends Lee and Carma have never been to Arizona and wanted to see some of the sights there. They wanted me to arrange the trip and places to stay. I told Lee that it would really be great if he'd join Passport America and he could save a lot of money on our trip. At first he was a little reluctant but I told him if he didn't save his annual fee I'd refund his money. He joined.



We left Fredricksburg and headed to Andrews Texas to visit with their family for a few days. Her cousin knew the lady in charge of the Chamber of Commerce and she arranged for us to stay in their small RV park for about a week.

The city of Andrews has a very good Senior Citizen Center and they serve a dinner there six days a week. You can have meat, two vegetables, desert and drink for $2.50. We ate dinner there each day we were in Andrews.

Tomorrow we plan to take a day trip and see the Carlsbad Caverns.
